Blackwave designs, manufactures and ships flight-qualified, commercial off-the-shelf composite overwrapped pressure vessels (COPVs) for launch vehicles and satellites. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
THE WHY
To end COPV failure in spaceflight.
Reliable production depends on a structured and fully functional workshop.
Tools, materials and execution define performance on the shopfloor.
THE WHAT
You own the workshop. You ensure:
everything is structured, clean and ready to use tools and materials are always available daily operations run smoothly
This is not a management role. This is ownership through execution.
- Lead & shape the workshop: Take responsibility for processes, order, and safety in our workshop (Accountability, High Performance)
- Work hands-on: Support setups, handle tools and machines yourself, and show the team how it’s done. (Accountability)
- Organization & standards: Manage tools, workstations, and materials, including consumables and PPE (selection, ordering, inventory). (Accountability, High Performance)
- Guide & role model: Train colleagues, share practical tips, and ensure correct use of machines and equipment. (Candor)
- Safety & cleanliness: Ensure guidelines are followed and every workstation is always ready for action. (High Performance)
ROLE CLARITY
This role:
Has no disciplinary responsibility
Has no formal leadership responsibility
Does not manage people
Owns the workshop as a system through execution
You lead through structure, not hierarchy.
YOUR PROFILE
- Technical foundation: Completed training in metal, electrical, or workshop fields (e.g. mechanic, metalworker, electrician, industrial master).
- Practical know-how: Experience in workshop operations or manufacturing, with a strong sense of what works in daily practice.
- Leadership from practice: Natural authority, clear communication, and enthusiasm for leading a team.
- Hands-on mentality: Structured, solution-oriented, and ready to get involved yourself.
- Languages: Good German skills; conversational English is sufficient.
